Let’s get Real about Motherhood

Recently I listened to Da Hood Talks Podcast Show episode titled “Ain’t no Hood like Motherhood”. I always enjoy this podcast hosted by St. Louisan Shavanna Spratt, this episode was no exception. First, it highlights two of St. Louis’s sources of emotional peer support for moms near to my heart-The MOMS Group and the MOMS Line. Second, three moms share raw and real stories about their motherhood journey. Their honesty inspires hope and is a reminder of the importance for moms to be honest about the joys and challenges of the journey. Their stories are also a reminder of the need for a broad circle of support that is often lacking for moms. Many moms in the US are expected to do way too much too soon after having a baby and oftentimes because they don’t have any other option or they don’t see a better way to be possible.

I can’t fix things for people but I can validate what their going through and offer empathy and support. Most of all I can normalize their need for help because we are human and need one another.
